Christian Retreat is not a new concept! The word, “retreat,” is rooted in a Latin word meaning “to draw back” or to “take a step backward.”

It is a moment when we retreat for growth, reflection, rest, and relationship with God.

Jesus Himself modeled retreating when he’d leave the crowds to be by himself to spend time in prayer and with His Father, for example:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. – Mark 1:35 

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. – Luke 5:16

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. – Luke 6:12
